Rock 'n' Roll is Undead by Rose Pressey is the first book in the Veronica Mason series about a spunky tattooed witch named Veronica Mason who is the lead singer and owner of the rockabilly band The Voodoo Zombies.
In the beginning of the book we meet Veronica and learn that the rest of her band are actually vampires and they are singing at an all vampire bar in Memphis where the vampires have come out of the coffin due to a highly powerful sunscreen that allows them to walk in the sun. Moments after the gig, she finds her vampire bass player dead and has an odd vision of his death.
The reason it's odd is because even though she comes from a long line of witches she isn't really that great of a witch and admits that most of her spells usually either backfire on her or don't work at all.
So now in walks a mysterious and extremely hot new bass player that is too good to pass up and even though she had vowed not to date band members she can't help the attraction she feels for this sexy mystery man.
That is until she finds another dead vampire from the Rockabilly scene and as she starts to question who may be killing vampires she has to wonder, is someone coming after her next?
This book was very good, the characters, especially Veronica were very believable and had quite a bit of depth to them. I enjoyed how spunky and witty the main character was and really enjoyed the fact that she was different than most main characters you see, with her many tattoos and 50's pin up style hair and clothes she made me want to jump on a plane and go to Memphis to hear her band play in a seedy bar.
I give this book 4 out of 5 stars and looks forward to reading the next book in this series.
